TSMU students took part in the International Reconstructive Heart Surgery Conference
The second International Conference Reconstructive Heart Surgery held on November 23-24, 2017 in Kyiv, gathered leading cardiac surgeons from the USA, Great Britain, Germany, Poland, Greece, Georgia, Lithuania, Belarus, Moldova, and Romania. Prominent specialists discussed new technologies in cardiac surgery. President of the European Association of Cardiothoracic Surgery Marian Zembal, and chairman of the Kalangos Foundation, Afsendios Kalangos served as honorary guests. The organizer of the forum was Institute of the heart of Ministry of Health of Ukraine.
Ternopil State Medical University students Mariana Pozun, Krystyna Antoniv, Liubomyr Danyliuk and Oleh Giunesh took part in the event, where they learned about recent discoveries and new technoiques.
“These two days were chock full of activities and events. Leading experts presented video and discussed the many intricacies of their profession. There were a lot of questions from the floor. The best specialist doctors dissected presented clinical cases. Some of them shared their secrets on performing the Ozaki procedure. There was also a lively discussion of the latest TAVI method, which was of especial interest to students. The meeting did not have unnecessary ceremony, rather it took place in a warm atmosphere where everyone could speak, ask and seek advice. As a student, I was inspired to see the impressive surgical advancements, to meet face-to-face with the luminaries of cardiac surgery, ” said Mariana Pozun.
